I have been testing and learning about henna hair dye for over 12 years. The minute I learned about henna I was hooked. Over the years I have achieved amazing goals and set new standards. I never stop learning and most of the time I learn from my customers. Harvest Moon has sold over 500,000 packs of natural hair dye over the years with no sign of slowing down.

One of the absolute hardest goals to overcome was getting natural hair dye “out” of the hair. Some customers overdo it and some just want a lighter color come springtime.  Spring makes us feel fresh I guess and also makes us feel younger, which leads to lightening our hair. I have had people tell me Irish Spring soap will do it and also herd baby oil. I tried all of the myths and always ended up disappointed. The only sure-fire way was lots of sun and lots of lemons. Let’s face it we all don’t have that much time, or more importantly, we have better things to do. If you want to lighten your hair “ naturally” and when I say naturally I mean with 0 hydrogen peroxide!

It does not matter if you have dark blond hair or even black hair from henna hair dye, this is a surefire way to naturally lighten your hair under 48 hours. Dark hairs might take a bit more effort, but rest assured using these natural lightening agents, if you have henna in your hair it will come out. Red hair, light brown hair, it does not matter. The last step only requires 30 minutes and when you rinse your hair you will be amazed!

It Removes Henna Hair Dye, Not Chemical Dye

Now if you want to be creative you can even do natural highlights, but you might need some help. All you will need is 10 cups of water, baking soda, and fresh-squeezed lemon juice. Do not use coconut oil before or after, in fact, you will not even need to use apple cider vinegar or distilled water. Please remember any kind of oil will keep henna from sticking, but it will not strip it much, so not even olive oil. You can shampoo and condition after you are done, just remember if you are going to apply henna to your hair after, then you will not want to condition it either.

Keep in mind this “only” works for henna hair dye, not for chemical hair dye and it will not change your natural color, it will strip the henna and indigo. It will also work on our natural beard dye.

How often can you use this technique? The top of my head is too brassy.

I am not really sure, this came from a customer, you can do it again I would think. To much lemon would not be great for the hair, the older the dye has been on the hair the better it will work.
