Natural Soft Black is perfect if you already have black hair with streaks of gray or white, or if your hair is mostly gray or white.
You may notice that pure white hair can turn out lighter, and individual results can vary. Compared to our “Mighty Oak Dark Brown,” Soft Black is
slightly darker, yet still very subtle. If you would like a darker black or jet black, just add indigo or look into doing our two-step process for the benefits of a more conditioning effect using pure henna first and then indigo.

EarthDye Soft Black Beard Dye — A One-Step Process

EarthDye’s Soft Black Beard Dye is a completely natural blend formulated for a gentler black shade. It’s considered a “light” black—so if you want
a deeper, more intense black in a single step, we recommend using our pure indigo. For a true “jet black,” try our
two-step process.

• Who Can Use It?
  • Ideal for individuals with scattered grays or white strands in otherwise black hair.
  • You can apply it to your entire head or beard for an even blend.
  • If you have stubborn white roots, they may require a second application after 24 hours, but it is unlikely you will need to.
  • For a deeper black, simply add more indigo to your mixture—the higher the indigo content, the darker the shade.

Works on All Hair Types

This Soft Black Beard Dye can be used on a variety of hair textures. However, extremely light hair, such as bleached blond or completely white
, might need the two-step black or a dark brown mixed with pure indigo to reach a true black. Our blend contains no chemicals,
PPD, ammonia, or metallic salts—it’s an all-natural plant solution.

Remember: No chemicals means you cannot lighten your existing hair color. Gray, silver, brown, or red
hair will shift to a soft black shade, and any darker hair will deepen to black.

Product Quantity and Usage

A single 100-gram packet of powder can cover multiple facial hair applications, depending on thickness and length. If you regularly trim your
beard or mustache, you’ll need to reapply as the newly trimmed hairs will be uncolored. If you keep your beard length the same, simply touch up
root growth as needed.

Packet Contents

Each packet contains 100 grams (3.5 ounces) of our Natural Black blend—enough for up to 30 goatees or several full beards.
Only mix what you need at one time, and store any remaining powder in a sealed container in a cool, dry place.

Important: Always perform a strand or skin test first, as recommended by the FDA.

Preparing for Hair Application

1. Pre-Wash: Shampoo your hair twice using a clarifying shampoo.
   Skip the conditioner. Towel dry or allow it to remain slightly damp; completely dry hair is also acceptable.
2. Protect: Wear gloves and cover floors, clothing, and surfaces to avoid staining.
3. Mix the Powder: Combine approximately 1¼ to 1½ cups of warm tap water per 100 grams of powder
   until it reaches a pudding-like consistency.
4. Apply Immediately: Begin at the back of your scalp and work in sections toward the front. Press down on the paste
   to ensure full coverage. If you use a shower cap, poke small holes in it to allow airflow.
5. Timing: Leave it on for 45–60 minutes (up to 90 minutes max). Rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear.
6. After Rinsing: If you have thick or curly hair, you can use a cream conditioner to help remove the residue. Wait
   12–24 hours before shampooing.

Preparing for Beard Application

1. Cleanse Thoroughly: Use a shampoo with a small brush or toothbrush to scrub facial hair twice.
   This removes oils that can prevent dye absorption.
2. Mixing: Stir the powder with tap water (not distilled or bottled) until you get a thick,
   pudding-like consistency. Only prepare what you need; store the rest sealed in a dry, cool spot.
3. Apply Evenly: Use a spoon or application brush to cover every strand. Any uncovered tips will not absorb color,
   resulting in a patchy outcome.
4. Wait Time: Let the dye sit for 45–60 minutes, up to a maximum of 90 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.
   You may shampoo 12–24 hours later but avoid leaving it unwashed beyond 48 hours.

Helpful Tips

• Temporary Color Shift: Gray or white hairs can initially appear red or green for about 12 hours as they oxidize;
  the shade will darken by the next day.
• Skin Staining: Any dye on the skin generally fades within a few hours and won’t permanently mark
  your face or hairline.
• Oil Treatments: Applying oil to your hair before coloring can reduce color absorption.
  If you regularly use oil treatments, shampoo your hair or beard three times prior to dyeing with an oil-free shampoo.
• Universally Compatible: Our dye is suitable for men and women across all hair types.
